Always reblog this. A lot of the animals they kill (and they kill over 95% of the animals they take in at their Virginia Headquarters) are killed within 24 hours. Not nearly enough time to deem whether an animal is adoptable or not. They even bought a giant fridge to store the corpses!
PETA is a corporation. Not a charity. Less than 1% of their 32 Million+ annual budget actually goes to directly helping animals. Most of it is spent making sexist/racist/ domestic abuse supporting commercials that won’t even air on television, giving bail outs to convicted arsonists and criminals, hiring/supporting any celebrity that claims to be vegetarian for five minutes, creating campaigns to target children (“Your mom kills animals”), fruitless lawsuits like suing Sea World for violating the constitution, and most recently, making porn. I’m not against porn, but I fail to see how it fucking helps animals.
PETA does not give a shit about animals.
Plus, these assholes have the gall to insult Steve Irwin.
I took a women and the environment class this past semester and we focused on animal rights advocates and used PETA as an example organization that promotes and advocates through negativity and sexuality. By using nude women in their advertisements to end animal cruelty, they support the theory that men are interested in the movement for the wrong reasons.

Ive loved Against Me! since I was 15, and ironically, I was introduced to them by some of the most anti-woman men I’ve ever met. This is going to bring out the bigot in a lot of people, but her decision is going to open up so many minds and blow away so many stereotypes!

So last Saturday was the prerelease for Magic the Gathering’s new expansion “Avacyn Restored.” The story line tied in with this expansion revolved around an angel ( The titular Avacyn ) being freed from a giant silver prison called the Helvault.
As a promotion for the prerelease and for the set its self Wizards of the Coast/ Hasbro announced that stores would be receiving Helvaults (made of cardboard) to be opened at the prerelease, their contents given out to the players.
It was a big mystery as to what the Helvaults contained, the Magic forums as they are like to do, exploded with speculation about the contents. Many guessed that whatever it was, the players would be disappointed.
About a week before the prerelease a Helvault was opened and its contents posted online for all to see. I won’t bore my non-Magic playing readers in describing the contents in great detail but I will sum them up as such: A twenty sided die, two cards that literally aren’t playable and an oversized card that also is literally unplayable. These things aren’t “worthless” but they are, with the exception of the dice, mostly useless.
The players were unimpressed and with a resounding “meh” they still showed up in droves to the prerelease to play the game, maybe get some prizes, and get the guaranteed promo card ( a card that was also free and useable ).
What Wizards/Hasbro had done though was selected thirty out of the six thousand cardboard Helvaults and filled them with super exclusive premium cards. I understand the idea of a $120 dollar piece of cardboard might seem crazy to some, in fact it is, but still that’s what was in some of the Helvaults.
Players who didn’t get the premium Helvaults are mostly pretty pissed. The whole promotion has backfired and left a sour taste in Hasbro/Wizard of the Coast’s consumers.
Their official response has done very little as far as saving face with the idea being “Would people really be happier if none of the Helvaults had valuable things in them?” The answer seems to be: Yes, absolutely.
Wizards of the Coast’s advertising/promotional kerfuffle is what we talk about when we talk about Helvaults.
